#TheOrdinaryBruja Episode 6: A Lesson in Wildflowers

Strength Isn’t Always in Knowing

Marisol’s ascent up Hallowthorn Hill has always been fraught with questions—about herself, her worth, and her power. But when the mysterious figure gives her a task, she’s faced with something she wasn’t expecting: doubt.

“Why do you keep calling me strong?” she asked him, her frustration breaking through. “You don’t know me.”

The figure’s answer is a lesson in itself: “Strength isn’t always in knowing. Sometimes it’s in learning.”

A Wildflower’s Test

Marisol’s first test is deceptively simple: heal a wildflower, its petals drooping and its life fading. At first, she’s overwhelmed by the impossibility of it all. How could she, someone still grappling with her own sense of self, bring life to something else?

But the figure offers her guidance: “Think less with your mind and more with your heart. What does this wildflower need from you?”

Hesitantly, Marisol tries. She brushes her fingers over the flower’s withered petals and closes her eyes, imagining it whole and vibrant. For a moment, she feels a warmth spread through her hand—a gentle pulse of life. The flower begins to lift, its petals brightening.

Her excitement is fleeting, though. Doubt creeps in, and the flower wilts again.

A Journey, Not a Destination

“Magic is a journey, not a destination,” the figure tells her. His words remind Marisol that perfection isn’t the goal—growth is. Magic, like life, is about intent and persistence, not instant success.

This moment marks the beginning of Marisol’s deeper understanding of herself and her power.

Reflections

This episode reminds us that doubt is part of every journey, and it’s okay to stumble. What matters is the willingness to try and to learn.
