The Ordinary Bruja

For fans of Mexican Gothic and The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina, The Ordinary Bruja is a psychological horror and magical realism novel about grief, ancestral secrets, Dominican brujería, and one woman’s fight to reclaim the magic her family tried to bury.

When strange messages appear in mirrors, and the scent of cigar smoke follows her through her small Ohio hometown, Marisol Espinal must confront the ghosts of her past, the truth about her mother’s death, and the family curse waiting for her on Hallowthorn Hill.

Her family buried the magic. Now it wants out.

#saturdayreads: Writes To Riches by Renee Rose

Title: Writes To RichesRating: 4-Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Sub-Genre: Writer’s Craft

I recently listened to the audiobook “Write to Riches” by Renee Rose, narrated by the author herself, which I absolutely loved.

One of the standout aspects of this book is how it gives you permission to dream of the impossible. As a creative person, I’m often bombarded with the stereotype of the struggling artist who should be content with just the love of their craft. This idea makes no sense to me in today’s world.

Renee Rose’s story is inspiring because she dreamed of making a living through her writing and aligned her mindset to attract that dream. This book is a powerful reminder that it’s not only okay to dream big but also to expect and work towards those dreams becoming a reality.

I have read a lot of self-help books, like A LOT. But it was refreshing to see one geared specifically towards writers. Renee Rose provides actionable insights and inspiration tailored for those of us who want to turn our passion for writing into a thriving career.

This is something that I plan on relistening to since it keeps the mindset fresh and recalibrates it. If you’re a creative looking for a motivational boost, “Write to Riches” is definitely worth a listen.
