I am so excited to share with you the journey behind my upcoming novel, “Under The Flamboyant Tree,” set for release in November 2024. This story has been a labor of love, healing, and discovery, and I can’t wait for you to read it, share it and love it.
The Beginning: The Devil That Haunts Me
Back in October 2022, I began writing a story titled “The Devil That Haunts Me.” At that time, I was uncovering childhood traumas and needed an outlet for my emotions. Writing became my therapy. For a year, I poured my heart into this story, but as I look back, I realize that version was my personal healing journey, not the story I wanted to share with the world. During this process, I discovered that the story wasn’t just about one character but three.
Mother, Maiden, and Crone: The Lineage of Trauma
This revelation led to the creation of the Mother, Maiden, and Crone archetypes. I realized that the trauma carried in the bloodlines of these women needed to be explored. The tragic death of Julitza, who represents the Maiden, becomes the catalyst for Bianca/Isabella, the Mother, to break the generational trauma. However, one book couldn’t do justice to these three women. They each needed their own story. Plus, I wanted my books to be accessible, and a thick volume might deter readers.
Under The Flamboyant Tree: A New Beginning
Seeing that the mother’s story took most of the pages I’d drafted, I decided to focus solely on her. This story needed a new title and genre. Thus, “Under The Flamboyant Tree” was born, a contemporary fiction novel enriched with magical realism.
What’s Next?
I am currently in the first round of edits and am excited to share that “Under The Flamboyant Tree” will be published in November 2024. I hope you will be on the lookout for it and join me on this journey of transformation, self-discovery, and confronting past traumas.
