Finding Happiness in the Simplest of Things

What are 5 everyday things that bring you happiness?

I find happiness in the simplest of things. Those everyday ‘objects’ bring me so much joy and contentment. In my life, five things never fail to put a smile on my face and brighten my day. What I mention here may seem ordinary to others, but to me, they are worth more than gold.

First and foremost, my notebook is an essential part of my daily routine. If you have heard me blab about my bullet journal, well, you may want to go check out my website and podcast because it’s all there. Nevertheless, this piece of stationary serves as my personal organizer, keeping me synchronized and on top of my tasks and responsibilities. Whether it’s jotting down important dates, making to-do lists, or simply doodling on its pages, my notebook brings a sense of order and clarity to my life. The act of writing things down helps me stay focused and productive, and that sense of accomplishment brings me immense happiness.

Next on the list are my pets. As soon as I walk through the door, their wagging tails and snooty purrs instantly lift my spirits. The unconditional love and companionship they provide are unparalleled. Seeing their happy faces and knowing they are always excited to see me makes me feel like the most important person in the world. Their presence brings warmth and joy to my life, reminding me of the beauty of simple connections and the power of love.

Water, the elixir of life, holds a special place on this list. According to my hubby, I drink too much water, but gosh, it’s so refreshing! Whether it’s a glass of water after a long day or the sound of raindrops hitting the windowpane, water uniquely can re-energize me. It quenches my thirst, rejuvenates my body and soul, and reminds me to appreciate the simple pleasures in life. The sound of flowing water, be it a babbling brook or crashing waves—while it does make me want to go pee—has a calming effect on my mind, washing away stress and bringing a sense of tranquility.

Ah, my bed. Not just any bed, but MY bed. There is something incredibly comforting about sinking into the softness of my own bed after a tiring day. The familiarity of the mattress, the warmth of the blankets, and the familiarity of the surroundings create a sanctuary of comfort and relaxation. It is a place where I can truly unwind, recharge, and find solace. Octavia, my cat often squeezes herself between my husband and I and her purrs are so soothing and combined with the feeling of sinking into my bed, it brings a sense of security and peace, allowing me to let go of the day’s worries and find respite in the embrace of comfort.

Lastly, my headphones hold a special place in my heart. In a world that is constantly buzzing with noise and distractions, putting on my headphones allows me to create my own little bubble of tranquility. Whether listening to my favorite music, an inspiring podcast, or simply enjoying a book, my headphones provide a sanctuary of peace. They grant me the luxury of solitude, even in the midst of a crowded space. With my headphones on, I can escape into my own world and find a sense of inner stillness and clarity.

I don’t know about you, but happiness is in those little things that we often take for granted. For me, my notebook, pets, water, bed, and headphones are the everyday objects that bring me immense joy and contentment. They remind me of the beauty of simplicity, the power of connection, and the importance of self-care. These objects may seem ordinary to others, but to me, they are the keys to my happiness and the sources of everyday bliss. I wish everyone in this world could experience the consistent fortune of this everyday bliss. My heart goes out to all suffering and those oppressed who don’t get to enjoy these small joys.
