How Our Habits Shape Us: My Journey Towards Self-Improvement

I am a big believer (with some logical exceptions) that we are a product of our choices and that making a choice is easier when one turns it into a habit. ⬆️ I am so incredibly proud of the habits I’ve built. It wasn’t overnight, it was a gradual process of making choices each and every day. Learning and using what I had learned to add or take away things in my morning routine.

For the longest I fought against procrastination which unbeknownst to me then, stemmed from various fears. Fear of rejection, failure and even success. But it wasn’t until I came to terms with those fears and made a decision to track things.

I became my own subject in my self-development experiment. What I found was that every decision I made, or didn’t make, no matter how small, contributed to the bigger picture of ME. When I came to that realization, I asked myself where did I wanted to be and when I figured that out, I crafted the steps that will get me there.💫

These steps became the habits that propelled me towards my vision. One of my favorite ways to track all of this became a bullet journal. It served and still does as a tangible reminder of the conscious choices I make each day. When I review it, it gives me a self-portrait of change, growth, and evolution and it never fails to bring self-pride. 📖

Gratitude, vitamins, meditation, reading and fitness is a holistic approach to the start of my day. While this routine is a short one, it grounds my day and allows me to present a best version of me everyday. And what’s really amazing is how energized it makes me.

For someone who used to drag after lunch, this has been such a blessing for me. Because of these habits I am able to be productive in the way I want to be and pursue those things that are important to me.

I encourage anyone reading this to look within. Every choice matters. Every habit counts. No effort is too small. It’s the little things that add up to big changes. Invest in yourself so you can show up for you and those you love.

Believe me, healthy habits make our lives easier and better! So go out there and start experimenting until you find something that works for you.

Stay strong, stay inspired, and remember – you are the architect of your life. You build its foundation and choose its contents. So, build wisely.

Love,

Joa
